Artist: Dennis Warner Title: Journey
of the Soul
Dennis Warner is a singer/songwriter who lives in
Clearwater.
Warner recently released an album titled "Journey of the Soul" that I
categorize as easy-going folk music.
The album combines some fine writing, solid musicianship
and
superior production. Warner produced the album himself with help from
Jake Hamond and Jeff Vee at the Vee's Rockhouse studio in St. Joseph.
Warner also gets some help throughout the album from some of the areas
best musicians such as Paul Diethelm, dobro; Mike Zeleny, bass; and
George Maurer, piano.
But Warner completes the puzzle with a strong performance
of his own.
You can feel his confidence as he delivers a truly
strong set of tunes that
includes "We Make the Good Times Last," "Want Nothing" and "Northern
Lights." Other tracks worth noting include the storytelling of "It's My
Life" and
the very moving "Don't Laugh at Me."
But surely nothing sounds better to my ears than
the song "What
Matters the Most," a soul-searching tune that Warner had released as a
single
last year shortly after the Sept. 11 tragedy.
